A New Website for a New Era
You may have noticed things look a little different around here, and you’d be right!
What you’re seeing is the new and improved comptonstable.org. It’s still powered by the same people who started this work with a simple but urgent goal: to create a safer, more connected future for queer and trans people in Northwest Pennsylvania.
What’s new is how we show up; our message and resources are clearer, more connected, and easier to access.
This update didn’t happen on it’s own. It comes on the heels of a year that asked a lot of our community, and, once again, required us to prove just how strong we are.
Across the country, queer and trans people faced growing restrictions, reduced access to care, and increased hostility. Those realities are not abstract. They shape daily life. And still, as our community has always done, we showed up for each other.
Last year, that looked like something powerful.
It looked like our largest Gayla to date with a room full of joy and collective care. It looked like a capital campaign that raised over $80,000 for real investment in a future that we’re building together. It looked like people giving their time, their energy, their hard earned dollars, and their belief in what this space can be.
And now, it looks like this website; queer folks sitting around a table, choosing colors and shaping language together, community members stepping up to fund the work and queer artists being supported to bring it to life.
It feels silly to say, but this website means so much more than what you see on the surface. It’s a reflection of what happens when people come together with intention.
So while this may seem like a small milestone, it carries a lot behind it. And it points to what’s ahead.
We’re glad you’re here. We hope you’ll take time for to look around.
